Introducing Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)
(Classroom Colloquium)
Prof. Minna Yu, Department of Accounting
The goal of this session is to increase awareness about the Institute of
Management Accountants (IMA) on campus. IMA is the association
of accountants and financial professionals in business. There are 65,000
members (including over 7,000 student members) and over 200 local
chapters around the world. The instructor will share about the recent
development of IMA, its programs and activities, such as student case
competition, Student Leadership conference, and other learning and
networking opportunities. The IMA Career Center is a great resource for
those seeking accounting and finance positions in the U.S. and interna
tionally. IMA also provide a Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
program to qualified members. In 2013, 2,800 CMA certificates were
awarded, the highest number in CMA history. In this session, we will
learn about the value of CMA credentials and the CMA exam content.
