The New Jersey Technology Council July 2014 issue of Tech News has included an article written by me on How to Grow a Virtual Technology Company. This, in my opinion, will be the dominant form of IT Knowledge Sharing company of the future. http://www.njtc.org/media/TNjuly2014.pdf Check it out at your convenience, Page 10-12. I have joined a start up provider of Virtual Desktop and Server Virtualization to the NYC Metro Region's Small and Medium sized businesses. Most larger companies have long enjoyed the server virtualization. Millions of enterprise users already experience desktop virtualization.TetherView (www.TetherView.com) is now providing these enterprise ...

What a winter, what a mess. More snow today, heaviest and wettest snow here at the NJ Shore in a long time. Really rough times for our stores and restaurants, last year we had Sandy and snow on the ground from Christmas to Lincoln's Birthday. Some lasted until the end of the summer this year, and then closed. Some struggle on. Interestingly, closings included some of the best, as well as some not so stellar. Some places that had been going strong for 30+ years now gone. This year, icy cold. Now smothered with snow again. Our chapter is getting ready to welcome the spring with a set of programs focused on our members still in transition. And to help graduating ...

Great news this week about the IMA. Membership in IFAC (The International Federation of Accountants). It is another milestone for us, and will increase both the recognition and value of IMA membership as well as the CMA designation. At this time of year it is good to give Thanks for what we have. A brief respite from the worry about we don't have (something the holiday season seems to bring to the fore- consumerism.) A great profession, good friends and contacts in the IMA (North Jersey Shore, NJ Council, Committee work, and of course the IMA staff itself). A good job, and healthy family-I am blessed with that and wish the same to everyone. My Brother ...

Turnaround finally?

With the stock market hitting highs, gold and silver selling off, and the deficit growing slower it is starting to look like a recovery starting. At the North Jersey shore we still have an incredible amount of storm damage to repair-hundreds of homes are still unlivable. Some are only summer homes, but many are not. New flood maps mean some homes will have to be raised 4-8', or land will be abandoned or sold. The recovery hasn't brought many jobs back around here yet, especially for recent college grads. With interest rates so low, it seems a good time to start a business. What do you think?

The North Jersey Shore Chapter has weathered the super storm Sandy. We have started the year with 2 excellent programs and our next meeting will be a free co-meeting March 27 with the ETP Network. The ETP Network is New Jersey's premier professional networking group with members from many companies and not too many accountants-yet. This meeting will be targeted at helping our members in transition, author Rod Colon will be sharing his program for networking your way into a new job. NJ unemployment remains high, and in our area hundreds of homes have been lost. Some were vacation homes, but most were not. They are being rebuilt slowly, my brother's home has to ...
